Star Technology Services (Star), part of MessageLabs Group, focuses on taking
best-of-breed third-party technologies and packaging them as managed and fullysupported
services for its customers. Financial 2003/4 was a year of
transformation – market focus was sharpened, service offerings broadened and
brand positioning evolved to better reflect Star’s status. As well as close
relationships with IBM and MessageLabs, Star has technology partnerships with,
among others, Juniper Networks, WatchGuard, Apache and Sun. Over 4,000
organisations trust Star with their business-critical technology and 94% say they
would recommend Star to others. Fiscal 2004 saw Star profitable, recording a 71%
increase in operating profit to £6.2m on £36.3m revenues.

focus is to move further up the value chain, increasing the breadth and depth of
its services, which span three main areas: network services; managed hosting
services; and business applications – each underpinned by applicable security
offerings.
Star’s 2004 turnover of £36.3m (2003: £30.4m, profit £3.6m) breaks out as 66%
from managed security and network services; 20% from business applications;
and 14% from managed hosting services.
