Executive Summary
Capgemini has a long pedigree in the UK, starting as Hoskyns, a pioneeri in IT
outsourcing. In the early 1990s it joined Cap Gemini Sogeti. In 2001 it merged
with Ernst & Young's IT and consultancy arm and incorporated Gemini Consulting
to become today’s Capgemini. Like most IT firms it thrived before 2001 and
suffered thereafter. “Now we have stabilised, our share price is rising and we are
growing fast,” says Robert Ingram, UK Head of HR. “Our outsourcing business has
grown 40% in the last two years.”
This has been helped by winning three of the world's largest outsourcing deals,
including HM Revenue and Customs ASPIRE contract. The firm is also a major
player in technology services and consultancy, including Europe's largest telecoms
consultancy provider. “We complete in many markets and bundle these together.
Anyone joining us can go in a variety of directions,” says Ingram. Global revenues
grew 9% in 2004 after falls of 18% in 2003.
